Dresser (pantomime, fixed term)
The Gatehouse Theatre is looking for a Dresser to join the JACK AND THE BEANSTALK team, which runs from the 6th December to the 5th January 2025.
The production team will consist of a mix of in-house production/technical freelance staff and the team from our panto providers Imagine Theatre.
This is a fixed term contract for services, which will require you to have self-employed status.

Person Specification:
- Previous professional dressing experience within a wardrobe department is preferable.
- A strong sewing ability and knowledge of costume repairs is preferable.
- Ability to work as part of a flexible team, responding to challenges, contributing ideas, supporting other team members and leading teams as required.
- Ability to remain calm, work to tight deadlines, and to problem solve.
Responsibilities:
- To create and work to a wardrobe dressers track including the preparation of costume and execution of quick changes.
- Assist the Wardrobe Supervisor with any maintenance duties and laundry.
- Assist the Wardrobe Supervisor and stage management team in organising the backstage areas.
- Assist cast members in getting in and out of costume as required.
Duty Manager (Casual)
In the role of Duty Manager, you will be key to supporting all of our objectives and in many ways. This will start with ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all venue operations during shows, events, hires and bookings, and venue operating hours. You will also be leading the front of house volunteer team and undertake all corporate requirements on health and safety, equal opportunities, data protection, risk management.
A full training programme will be provided and for those that want to go further, we will work with you to develop a career path with us.

Hours: Casual, as and when required.
Requirements
- Experience in working FOH and managing a team in either a theatre, leisure or hospitality-based venue.
- Experience in venue/building management.
- Cash handling where appropriate.
- Events experience desirable, but not essential.
- A strong knowledge of theatre practices and FOH services.
- An ability to lead by example, exemplifying the values of the organisation and good practice.
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours, incl. late nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Knowledge of local and national H&S policies.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (training will be given).
- Ability to prioritise a number of hires and manage/rota.
- Forward thinker, with the ability to time manage.
- Team player, working with Senior Management, and casuals.
- Ability to adapt to last minute requests and/or changes in event situation.
- A great communicator, ensuring all teams and departments are up to date with hires and daily operations of the venue.
- Must demonstrate flexibility and a can-do attitude, showing initiative and flair for problems, issues and challenges.
