NEW: Maintenance Assistant – Part Time
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to become an invaluable member of our team! Your main responsibility will be to provide exceptional maintenance support, ensuring that all facilities and premises associated with the iconic Gatehouse are in optimal working condition. With your expertise, we can ensure that the theatre runs seamlessly, delivering exceptional customer service while upholding high standards of safety and sustainability. Key responsibilities to include:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks on-site, including minor building maintenance and bulb replacement, ensuring equipment and facilities are in good working order at all times.
- Assist with the supervision of maintenance, repair and annual testing by subcontractors of all installed and portable electrical appliances to comply with regulations and theatre protocols.
- Perform decorations across the grade II listed building.
- Report any building and equipment maintenance issues using the organisation’s maintenance reporting systems, to ensure that issues are dealt with effectively and promptly and escalated where appropriate.
- Adopt effective work practices, proposing improvements where possible, which minimise the environmental impact of the theatre so that its environmental sustainability targets can be achieved.
- Ensure that all areas are kept clean and tidy and any issues or concerns are reported, so that the theatres facilities are presentable and safe for the public and staff at all times.
- Perform weekly and monthly tasks such as utility readings, fire alarm tests, lift tests, emergency lighting checks and fire door tests.
- Support the Operations Manager to work proactively with clients and third-parties, facilitating effective interactions with the venue’s in-house facilities and personnel.

Requirements
- General knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrics, painting & decorating
- General knowledge of Health & Safety (H&S qualification would be an advantage)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Able to work under pressure on multiple tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good relationship building skills.
- Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
- High level of attention to detail

Senior Stage Technician (Full time)
Requirements
- Knowledge of current stage trends and equipment
- Manual handling and lifting techniques
- Working with the Technical Manager in maintaining and developing risk assessments
- Ladder and tallescope training
- Reading and understanding lighting and stage plans
- Knowledge of the Health & Safety legislation
- Good team player and communicator
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Positive, proactive, self motivated and flexible approach
- Genuine interest in the arts
- Comfortable working at heights
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
- A desire to learn and develop skills
- A DBS check is required for this vacancy
Desirable
- Industry-recognised qualification or certification in rigging
- Working at height rescue training
- Experience as a Stage Technician in a producing theatre
- A working knowledge of sound is desirable
- Knowledge of the cinema projection and AV (Training is available)
- First Aid at work
- Full, clean driving license

Senior Lighting Technician (Full time)
We are looking for a Senior Lighting Technician with strong all-round skills to join our team. The Theatre is an exciting venue presenting a busy programme of drama, music and comedy through out the year as well as producing our own productions which includes Youth theatre, Pantomime and our acclaimed Shakespeare production.
Working with the rest of the technical team the Senior Lighting Technician is responsible for delivering the Lighting requirements on all productions, events and activities in the main theatre, the MET studio and on external events and productions outside the venue. Essential skills in Theatre lighting & ETC desk programming and a working knowledge of sound installation & operation are desirable and theatrical staging is essential.
To provide a high quality of technical services and support to all incoming shows and users of the venue, support at Stafford Castle for the annual Shakespeare event and other events managed by Freedom Leisure.

- City and Guilds 236 Part 1 and Part 2 Electrical Installation
- Full, clean driving license (up to 3.5 tons)
- Knowledge of current lighting trends and equipment
- Manual handling and lifting techniques
- Experience of programming ETC EOS family of lighting desks
- Ability to fault find and repair damaged lighting stock
- Working with the Technical Manager in maintaining and developing risk assessments

- Knowledge of the Health & Safety legislation
