PIAF by Christine Bovill – The Paris Icon and the Glasgow Girl

September 12, 7.30pm

PIAF is not a tribute show. It is an award winning, poignant, funny performance about a Glasgow girl who hated French at school and then was given a record of Edith Piaf.
The rest is history – taking Christine from the classroom, to a French degree, to a high school teaching career and finally an award winning performer who has toured the show all over the world.
The evening centres around Christine telling these extraordinary stories of her life with Edith Piaf, interspersed with Piaf’s greatest songs – in French and English.
She was featured on BBC Radio 4’s Soul Music, discussing her life with Piaf, as well as countless TV (live on Newsnight) and radio performances. She has performed many times on BBC Northern Ireland, and on Marty Whelan’s RTE show.
Charles Dumont, Piaf’s great friend and composer of Non, Je ne Regrette Rien, made the journey from Paris to join Christine on stage at the Edinburgh Festival. (Validation for Christine’s performance doesn’t come any higher than this……..)

She has toured throughout the world, with musical residencies in France and Berlin. She has also performed in South Korea and recently had a concert in South America.
