This Palme D’Or nominated period romance features multi-award-winning Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor. They play Lionel and David who meet at a Music Conservatory. They are separated during World War I but reunite when commissioned to collect folk songs on wax cylinders. They travel around rural America, capturing local songs and rekindling their relationship. However, they part again when David must return to work and Lionel travels to Europe. Unable to forget him, Lionel returns to try to find David. A “moving film that navigates themes of intimacy, remembrance and cultural preservation through a uniquely melodic lens.” (Cineuropa).
